Sara’s Journey: Starting Late, Rising Strong

When Sara joined Urban Motion at the age of 13, she was stepping into a space where many dancers had been training for years. As one of the oldest students in the room, it would’ve been easy for her to hang back or feel out of place — but instead, she chose to lead.

It didn’t matter that I started later than everyone else,Sara says.

I knew I had to work harder — and I wanted to.

From day one, Sara stood out. Her focus, energy, and quiet confidence made an immediate impression. She was eager to learn, quick to pick up new movements, and constantly pushed herself beyond her limits. Before long, she was invited to join our Champion Training Program alongside her younger sister, Leea — a rare achievement that reflected her dedication and growth.

Sara has since become a true role model in the Urban Motion family. She regularly assists in coaching younger students, helping guide them through warmups, classes, and boosting their confidence with kind encouragement and support. She spends hours outside of class learning routines and moves from videos, often coming to class excited to show something new she’s been working on.

“I watch videos, break down the moves, and practice until I get it. Then I can teach it to the others — it helps me learn too.”

Her commitment to improvement is matched only by her humility. Whether she’s teaching a younger dancer how to perfect their footwork or pushing herself to master a new routine, Sara does it all with a calm, steady drive. She’s become a leader not because she’s loud or flashy — but because she shows up, works hard, and lifts others around her.

“Urban Motion gave me the confidence to try. I never thought I’d be helping teach other kids — but now it’s one of my favourite things.”

Sara’s story is a reminder that it’s never too late to start something new — and that leadership isn’t about being the best, it’s about bringing your best to the people around you. We’re incredibly proud to have her as part of our team and can’t wait to see where her journey takes her next.
